Pre-Employment Qualification

Before You Begin

To determine your eligibility for FEMA inspector opportunities, you will be asked to provide personal information including your full legal name, Social Security Number (SSN), date of birth, and email address.

Because qualifying candidates become part-time surge employees of WSP USA Services, Inc., this information is required to establish employment records, verify eligibility to work in the United States, and support the background investigation process required for contracted FEMA inspector positions. Employment is contingent upon meeting all qualification requirements and successfully completing the background investigation process.

You will also be asked to:

  • Confirm U.S. citizenship status (required for the position)
  • Confirm access to a major credit card in your name, as inspectors need to cover authorized travel-related expenses until reimbursement can be processed
  • Complete a pre-employment qualification assessment

We recommend allowing approximately 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to complete the registration and assessment process.

What to Expect During Registration

Step 1: Create Your Registration Profile

Provide personal information to establish your account and begin the qualification process, including:

  • Legal Name
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Date of Birth
  • Email Address

You will also be asked to confirm:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Access to a Major Credit Card in your name

Step 2: Complete a Short Questionnaire

Step 3: Take the Qualification Assessment

Complete a 67-question assessment covering:

  • Residental Construction Knowledge
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Mathematics
  • Information Verification

A minimum score of 85 percent is required to continue.

Step 4: Provide Contact Information

Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be asked to provide:

  • Phone Number(s)
  • Physical Address
  • Mailing Address
  • Tax Mailing Address Information

Step 5: Continue Through Hiring and Onboarding

Qualified candidates who successfully complete the registration process will receive:

  • An Inspector Identification Number
  • System Login Credentials

Please note:

  • Completion of registration does not guarantee employment.
  • Registration is the first step in the WSP housing inspector hiring process.
  • Qualified candidates may be submitted for a background investigation as staffing needs and FEMA authorization allow.
  • Additional employment, onboarding, training, and qualification requirements must be completed before deployment.
